CIRCUIT SOUTH WEST COAST

1 ° Day - TULEAR / employee (120 km)

The discovery of the West begins today. Start early in the morning. Along the west coast, passing through the villages of Ifaty, and Manambo Salara. The sandy track along one of the longest coral reefs of Madagascar (the second in the world after Australia), the beautiful lagoon of Ranobe. Vezos villages you will find a people rich in tradition: fishermen for generations, the Vezos moving relentlessly in the wind in their canoes close to balance. Picnic lunch in the middle of the stage. Arrival at the end of the day. Night and dinner in camp (camping).

2 ° Day - employee / ANDAVADOAKA (80 km)

The trail leaves the coast, sandy track closely, for several kilometers through a forest dry before reaching the village of Befandefa. Again, the horizon opens up the wide open spaces against the backdrop of the unusual form of baobabs: Andansonia, zaha ... A frank and clear track to reach Andavadoaka. Picnic lunch en route. Arriving early afternoon Andavadoaka. Night and dinner at the hotel in this wonderful bay. Relais bush, built with local materials, however, the bungalows are clean and comfortable.

3 ° Day - ANDAVADOAKA

Day of relaxation and discovery of the bay using canoes Vezos. Full board at the hotel.





Day 4 - ANDAVADOAKA / MANJA (210 km)

A time requiring a departure early in the morning. A track wheel and plotted to reach Morombe once important city of cabotage. Today only a few small dhows to stop. Passage to Morombe morning for fuel and fresh produce. The most uncomfortable ride of the trip is about forty kilometers along National Route 9, or at least what is left. Picnic lunch before or after the crossed the river Mangoky which will tray. Then again the track before joining our bivouac place just before the charming town of Manja. The duration of the stage will be based on the time of crossing by ferry on the river Mangoky (pending possible).

Day 5 - MANJA / BELO SUR MER (120 km)

Step quiet without too much difficulty. Unforgettable landscapes: vast salt, as we cross cautiously before joining the fishing village of Belo where it also manufactures dhows. Lunch and dinner at the lodge at Belo-Sur-Mer. Hotel in the enchanting and good taste, combining the traditional materials of the region in comfort.


6 ° Day - BELO SUR MER / MORONDAVA (90 km)

Liaison morning to Morondava. Leaving from Belo, surrounded by salt, it is mandatory to wait for the tide to return to the track Morondava it must sometimes wait until the morning (the risk is real, the infiltration of water sea during high tide makes the sub-salt layer of the unstable, and if the surface crust is firm to the foot, it supports only very rarely the weight of a 4x4).

Once out of the saline, a beautiful sandy track on 40 km leads to the river Morondava. A short stop to recognize the most conducive to a ford crossing in safety. Depending on time of departure from Belo, or picnic lunch en route or lunch at a restaurant in Morondava.

This tour can be combined with the lowering or rising Tuléar to Antananarivo. 600 kms of scenery you will discover very remote areas of Madagascar. Few circuits are programmed in that part of the island, allowing for contact yet with a rich people always curious about the "alien". Region in high contrast and high color. Vegetation varied throughout the circuit. Condition of runs: the most part well but still rolling a track used by coastal carts more difficult. Rivers to ford or cross by ferry. Compared to a standard route: less comfort, more dust, autonomy (2 nights in a bivouac, dinner at the campfire.) But also more feelings, more authenticity, more adventure ... A philosophy of travel is highly recommended. On 6 days, is hardly superhuman effort and lack of comfort is more than offset by the greatness of nature so unusual that surrounds you.

The circuit is feasible during the period April to November, however we recommend the period May to July.
